Tinwell Bar in downtown Salt Lake has been a hip Salt Laker staple for some time now but last year they decided to redesign the space and turn the cool dive bar into a cooler cocktail bar and we must say- they did an excellent job.
The black and white signage and exterior of the building has a welcoming 1960’s style and its hard to tell if the bar is open with its darkened windows but give the heavy steel handled wood door a hard pull and you’ll be rewarded with the cosy cool interior of Tinwell.
Saddle up to the comfortable bar seats or snag one of the corner booths if you’re so lucky. If you’re in the mood for a more casual setting, head out the back door to the beer garden. There’s a courtyard with a taco stand, (on the weekends), a fire, music and of course-corn hole.
The cocktail menu comes in a convenient little black booklet full of mixtures for every style and taste. The bar tenders are well versed in classic cocktail making but the bar menu offers creative creations that are also superb.
On the weekends you can expect a deejay to fire up solid tunes around nine or ten that will get a handful of people dancing. It attracts a late night crowd, so get there early if you want a spot to chill at the bar or show up late to rub elbows, people watch or get your show off your new dance moves.
